Grateful.....

Today was a busy one. I had these plans to take the kids to piano lessons at lunchtime and to go back and forth a few times to get the 3 kids back to school....some later then others. We were running a few minutes later then I wanted and had just pulled into the driveway at Carolyn's when I heard a huge squeal of brakes and the sound of impact. I looked up to see an accident where I was pretty sure the driver was dead and called 911. In the moments that it happened my big kids hurried the little ones inside away from the chaos and I tried to tell the 911 operator all that I could. It has been a long day of reflections and thoughts. How did I not see this about to happen? Why could I not help more then I did? Why do these things happen?

The driver did die before the paramedics arrived. His wife looked heartbroken on the side of the road. I thanked the heavens that it wasn't me. I am so grateful for what I know about death and what will happen to us when we leave this earth. I am grateful for eternity. Grateful that I was able to hug my kids good night tonight. I had to give a statement to the police tonight, something that I hope to never do again. My kids were in awe of the man in our house......it was funny!!! My heart goes out to that family tonight and for the loss they have suffered, for the people in the truck who hit them. Accidents are never a good thing.

Please take the time to love your family......and drive a little more careful.....I'm off to bed.....hoping for some peaceful sleep!! Family time tomorrow and then Stampin Club!!

Can't think of a scarier sight. One time I was only 3 cars behind an accident on the freeway. This idiot was swerving in and out of traffic and finally lost control and hit 2 other cars. I started bawling and shaking so bad, it scared me so bad!! That's so awful that someone lost their life, thanks for the reminder to never take a moment for granted!

Glad it wasn't you. Those things that hit a little too close to home sure make us stop and count our blessings. Sadly, sometimes that's what it takes to make us realize how blessed we are.

Deeply touched by your blog and so grateful to have had the gospel in our lives as we raised our family. Your experience is certainly one that makes you count your blessings. You are certainly one of my very extra special blessings and I love you and your dear family very much. Love Mom
