When the phone rings about 1o minutes before your first child is due to be dismissed it's time to worry. I was busy wrapping some gifts today, trying to be productive when the school secretary called letting me know that a collision had happened in Jessica's gym class and I would probably need to take her to see a dentist. This is the point when I wanted to die.......I am fearful of how bad it is after all the money I had to spend at the dentist last month and I just want my little girl to feel okay......she has no luck!!!! I get up to the school and she is waiting in the sick room with blood all around her mouth, not to mention the pool of it in the tissue and her mouth. It was not pretty and she was starting to get teary. We grab the other 2 kids and rush home where my mother in law examines the damage. After a quick call to the dentist we are out the door and off to Halifax. We stopped at the dentist for about 5 minutes when she sends us to the ER. We had to wait for probably 2 hours before we were moved to dentistry where the real fun began. Her front tooth had moved about 3 mm which wasn't good so they had to freeze her to try to push it back up. After a few tries we had success and she now has a wire cemented on her teeth for at least the next 2 weeks. We go back in a week to see if she needs to have root canal therapy done on that one tooth. The one stitch she had will dissolve and I'm pretty sure that she is already sick of the soft food diet she has to be on and it's only been 2 hours. It's going to be a long 2 weeks of Christmas food for her.......she is already mourning the things she is going to miss out on!!!

A little dirty from chocolate shake but just
about even again.......

Ouch! Kathy I was a dental assistant for 13 years before Travis went to dental school...I have seen this happen so many times and I always feel so bad for the kids! The good thing about the mouth is how quickly it heals....so hopefully by Christmas she'll be feeling better and she won't miss out on too many treats and goodies! And at least the tooth didn't come completely out! Hopefully it will be okay and won't need a root canal! Fingers crossed! Get feeling better!!!!
Eek! Poor Jessica! At least she is young...Cora cracked her tooth on a concrete paving stone once...fortunately she was okay but our dentist told us not to worry because she was young and if it did come out we could have pushed it back into place until we could get to a dentist to do probably what Jessica just had done. Hopefully she won't need any extra work and will be feeling better soon.
Ouch..ouch...ouch!!! You look so very brave Jessica. See you tomorrow..lots of love Nanny Jackie
Brave little girl! Hope she heals up quickly. I shouldn't even say this because it's GOING TO JINX ME....but I've been shocked that we haven't had anything besides a few scrapes and bruises with our kids so far. (knock on wood, knock on wood!!!) Especially because Cam is such an active kid.
So sad! What a trooper; I can't believe she was smiling in those pictures! Hopefully she is getting some luck in her Christmas stocking!
Poor thing! But what a trooper... good job Jessica!
Boo on the food thing... can you put everything in the food processor? Won't look as appetizing but might taste the same!?
Good luck!
Although I went through this with you via text, it still makes me tear up thinking about jessica in pain and scared!! Poor girlie!! Hope she is feeling better and that you can find lots of soft things for her to enjoy... remind her I will still get her a treat!!
Soft foods I've been thinking of...
soup
ice cream
yogurt
oatmeal
jello
apple sauce
mashed potatoes
I'm still thinking... love you jess! No more ER visiting auntie can't take anymore news like this!
That looks like it hurt. Poor Jessica. I hope she's able to eat some good Christmas food soon.
